As a Technical Artist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual quality of our games. Your primary focus will be contributing to rigging in Maya and implementation of assets in Unreal, along with working in Houdini FX with procedural modeling, grooming assets, and simulations. Additionally, collaborating closely with artists, animators, and engineers to bring our game worlds to life.

This is a full-time, on-site position in the Nashville, Tennessee area working on a new PC/Console franchise.

  • Maya Rigging:

    • Create high-quality character rigs in Maya for humanoid and non-humanoid characters.

    • Implement skinning and weighting to achieve realistic deformation during animations.

    • Collaborate with animators to understand their requirements and provide solutions for character movement and performance.

  • Shader Development:

    • Write and implement custom shaders to achieve visually appealing materials for characters and environments.

    • Collaborate with the art team to develop shaders that enhance the visual quality of the game.

    • Optimize shaders for performance across various platforms.

  • Houdini FX - Procedural Modeling, Grooming, Simulations:

    • Develop procedural systems for generating terrain, vegetation, and other world-building elements.

    • Groom character and environmental assets, including hair and fur, to achieve high-quality visuals.

    • Handle various simulations, including cloth, fluid, and particle simulations.

    • Optimize simulations for performance while maintaining visual fidelity.

  • Pipeline Integration:

    • Integrate character rigs, shaders, procedural models, groomed assets, and simulations into the game engine.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to integration.

    • Work closely with the engineering team to implement and improve tools and workflows.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Conduct rigorous testing of all assets, simulations, rigs, and shaders to identify and address any issues or anomalies.

    • Optimize assets and simulations for performance across various platforms.

  • Documentation:

    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all technical aspects of the game, including rigs, shaders, procedural models, grooming, and simulations.

    • Provide clear instructions for artists and animators on how to use and troubleshoot assets.

  • Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with the art and animation teams to understand artistic requirements and provide technical solutions.

    • Work closely with other technical artists and developers to ensure seamless integration of assets into the game.
