LEAD Character ARTIST
Job Description
Traega Entertainment is looking for a seasoned artist to champion our 3D character creation pipeline. As the Lead Character Artist, you will be responsible for owning and creating characters from concept to final assets in-engine.
This is a full-time position in the Nashville, Tennessee area working on a new PC and console franchise. We understand that the COVID-19 outbreak has implications that may delay the ability to relocate for some candidates. The safety of our employees and their families come first, so we will remain flexible about working from home. We will continue to monitor the situation, but the expectation is that you will come and work with us in our new and spacious studio in the Nashville area when it’s safe to do so.
Responsibilities

Active creative involvement in concept development

High poly 3D sculpts of characters, creatures, props, and equipment

Efficient UV layouts

Texturing and surfacing workup for assets

Low poly retopo from high poly sculpts

Oversee weighting, rigging, and adjusting meshes as needed

Importing optimized assets to engine

Mentor/Teach techniques to other artists

Manage, schedule, and organize deliverables

Help refine character creation pipeline to find efficiencies and/or to maximize quality

Oversee outsource process for character assets

Heavy collaboration across other disciplines within the studio
Qualifications
-
Proficiency in the industry-standard software products such as ZBrush, Photoshop, and Maya
-
Superb grasp of human anatomy

Firm understanding of PBR workflow

Autonomous and proactive sensibilities
-
Portfolio that includes a variety of character styles, sketchbook samples, demonstrates qualifications listed above
Pluses

Shipped titles in Unreal Engine 4

Shipped titles on Sony PlayStation®, Microsoft Xbox, and/or Nintendo Switch™

Experience leading a team of artists

Expert with Substance Designer
