SENIOR CHARACTER ARTIST

Traega Entertainment is looking for a Senior Character Artist responsible for creating realistic models and character assets including humanoids, creatures and equipment as well as managing and maintaining our character art outsource efforts as needed.

 

This is a full-time position in the Nashville, Tennessee area working on a new PC/Console franchise. 

We understand that the lingering effects of the COVID-19 outbreak may delay the ability to relocate for some candidates. The safety of our employees and their families come first. We continue to monitor the situation, the expectation is that you will come and work with us in our new and spacious studio in the Nashville area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create high poly models of characters, creatures, and equipment.

  • Creation of game ready meshes with efficient UV layouts.

  • Development of efficient textures and materials for real time PBR rendering.

  • Mentor other artists in production techniques and mentalities.

  • Facilitate art content development and feedback to outsource partners on assets.

  • Coordinate and work directly with internal and external groups to ensure that deadlines are met.

  • Integrate outsourced assets directly into project pipelines, making any required fixes to the assets.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in industry standard software such as ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter and related tools.

  • Superb grasp of anatomy.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with organic and hard surface forms.

  • Firm understanding of PBR workflow.

  • Excellent ability to create highly efficient real time assets.

  • Autonomous and proactive sensibilities.

  • Developed communication skills and a desire to evolve and refine your craft.

PLUSES

  • Shipped titles in Unreal Engine 4.

  • Examples of more than one artistic style.

  • Experience with character customization systems.

  • Experience with other areas of development.

  • Perspective on shifting tools, workflows, techniques and quality bars in the industry.

  • Additional skills and competencies that could benefit a game development team.
