Job Description


Traega Entertainment is looking for an experienced environment artist to craft visually compelling gameplay environments. As a Senior Environment Artist, your artistry will reach into the minds of players and invite them to live out their fantasies within uniquely crafted worlds and IPs.

This is a full-time position in the Nashville, Tennessee area working on a new PC/Console franchise. 

We understand that the lingering effects of the COVID-19 outbreak may delay the ability to relocate for some candidates. The safety of our employees and their families come first, and we although we continue to monitor the situation, the expectation is that you will come and work with us in our new and spacious studio in the Nashville area.


  • Creating high-quality 3D art from concept and design ideas including props, architecture, and terrain models

  • Development of efficient textures and materials for real time PBR rendering

  • Mentor other artists in production techniques and mentalities to always be improving on the quality of our results

  • Actively collaborate and communicate with other departments

  • Help refine environment creation pipeline to find efficiencies and/or to maximize quality

  • Work with block out levels all the way through final set dressing and lighting

  • Work closely with the design team to construct level layout roughs through a strong sense of level design, scale, and gameplay flow



  • AAA game development experience

  • Ability to craft environment and level related meshes, materials, and textures within an Unreal development pipeline to maintain a visual style and optimal performance

  • Demonstrable expertise with PBR, lighting, and material authoring

  • Expert understanding of Substance Tools, ZBrush, Photoshop, and Maya or similar content authoring packages

  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine 4

  • Strong technical ability to manage and plan assets to achieve desired results within engine constraints



  • Examples of more than one artistic style

  • Passion to learn and teach new methods and techniques

  • Ability to work autonomously when needed

  • Professional experience and understanding of Houdini, World Machine or similar content authoring packages

  • Comfortable working quickly within an iterative development process

  • Perspective on industry changes in technology, tools, techniques, and workflows

  • Ability to lead small teams
