SENIOR TECHNICAL ARTIST

Traega Entertainment is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Artist to unlock and enhance the creation of our unique and exciting IPs. Your competency, care for process, and perspective will unleash artists and unite them with the efforts of programmers to enable the creation of ever cooler things. This is a full-time, on-site position in the Nashville, Tennessee area working on a new PC/Console franchise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion development of new tools and pipelines while iterating on workflows to be smoother and more powerful

  • Work with the Art and Programming Departments to ensure technically sound content creation

  • Troubleshooting asset-related technical issues (Maya, Photoshop, etc.)

  • Set best practices around content organization and packaging both within Unreal and art source content directories

  • Work with Character Art and Animation teams to drive pipeline for tools creation, character rigging, implementation, and workflow best practices into Unreal

  • Create tools and character rigs to support key frame animation and motion capture data pipeline for bipeds and quadrupeds

  • Maintain and support documentation for pipeline and tools development processes

  • Work with Animation Blueprints and state machines in Unreal to help bring our characters to life

  • Motivate and enable the art team to enhance their processes

  • Analyze memory/performance concerns throughout a projects development 

 

QUALIFICATIONS​​

  • Experience as a technical artist on a shipped game title, preferably AAA

  • Strong working knowledge with Maya and MEL/Python scripting

  • Experience developing custom tools for DCC software (Maya or other similar software)

  • Knowledge of high level coding language (Python, Perl, C#, etc.)

  • Artistic/technical skills demonstrated in 2D/3D art creation

  • Self-motivated problem solver of creative issues within technical constraints

  • Initiative and interest in improving things for others, even if not specifically asked

  • Character integration experience in Unreal Engine 4 or 5

PLUSES

  • Experience with shader development in Unreal Engine 5

  • Up to date knowledge of current art techniques and development processes such as PBR workflows

  • Familiarity with Perforce and P4 Python API

  • Strong perspective on industry, technology, and tool changes
