TECHNICAL ARTIST

Traega Entertainment is looking for an experienced Technical Artist to join our growing art team. As a Technical Artist you'll work closely with all departments to create special effects that complement the experience of our games.

 

This is a full-time position in the Nashville, Tennessee area working on a new PC/Console franchise. 

We understand that the lingering effects of the COVID-19 outbreak may delay the ability to relocate for some candidates. The safety of our employees and their families come first. We continue to monitor the situation, the expectation is that you will come and work with us in our new and spacious studio in the Nashville area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create  rigs and skinning for real-time game content while maintaining a high degree of visual fidelity.

  • Marshal rigs and animations from Maya to functional gameplay in UE5.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to rigs and simulations.

  • Maintain content hierarchial standards and protocols regarding best practices both with UE5 and source directories.

  • Facilitate tools and pipeline needs for the Art Deprtment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Artistic/technical skills demonstrated in 2D/3D art creation via demo reel or portfolio.

  • Fluent in Maya with experience developing complex character rigs.

  • Creating tools for animation and modeling.

  • Experience with Unreal animation systems and implementation.

  • Self-motivated problem solver of creative issues within technical constraints.

  • Being a communication bridge between Art, Design, Engineering, and Production.

PLUSES

  • Experience as a Technical Artist on a shipped game title, preferably AAA.

  • Developing pipelines for DCC applications such as Maya and Perforce with Python or C++.

  • Experience with cloth and ragdoll simulations in Unreal or equivalent engine.

  • Experience with various rig setups including quadruped and complex creature characters.

  • Strong understanding of anatomy, kinematics, and deformation.

  • Up to date knowledge of current art techniques and development processes related to shader development in Unreal Engine.
